By engaging Naomi “Nej” Steer in any of the following editing services (proofread, developmental edit, critique, writing coaching, custom orders) you agree to the following terms and conditions:

• The price of each service engaged will be mutually agreed before any work is conducted. If any additional material be added by the client after this agreed total, there will be a supplementary fee based on the original pricing.
• If necessary, a deadline date will be mutually agreed upon, and all first edits will be completed by this date.
• In the unlikely event that a deadline needs to be amended due unforeseen circumstances, (such as but not limited to; severe illness, bereavement, technical issues etc), the client will be contacted with a deadline revision as soon as possible.
• All editing services are fulfilled by Nej Steer. There will be no 3^rd party subcontract undertaken without the client’s knowledge and explicit consent. This includes any AI services. Nej Steer doesn’t utilise any software that uses ‘artificial intelligence’ in her editing process.
• On the unlikely occasion that the client is unsatisfied with the service provided, they will make contact with Nej Steer, outlining any issues they have found with the work. Nej Steer will then make every attempt to rectify the situation to the client’s satisfaction. Every attempt will be made to create an error-free document, but perfection isn’t an achievable aim.
• If a manuscript is edited in chunks, rather than as a whole, a complete-manuscript revision is included in the initial price. This will be undertaken with the last chunk of the manuscript, and is to advise on flow and pacing. None of the previous chunks will be developmentally edited.
• Nej Steer reserves the right to use the client’s author name and book sales page to use on her website and social media to advertise her editing services.
• All work will be kept confidential.
• Unless otherwise requested, a copy of the client’s original work and annotated text will be kept on file securely, for at least six months after completion of services in case of failure with the client’s system.
• The client recognises that while Nej Steer is a qualified editor, all of her annotations are merely advisory. She will make her very best effort to highlight any potential legal issues she finds within, but accepts no liability for any action raised as a result of incorrect or defamatory material. The responsibility of appropriateness for publication solely belongs to the client.
• Nej Steer reserves the right to decline involvement with any client at any point of the editing process. In the event of harassment, abuse, or unprofessional behaviour of the client, the total cost of the services will be retained by Nej Steer, and only work completed to that point will be returned to the client. If the client-editor partnership is ended in this manner, Nej Steer will not keep any files of the client’s work.
